What a dream

Ina Garten is recalling the one and only time she played beer pong. And yes, the story involves Taylor Swift

The Barefoot Contessa, 76, recently sat down for an interview with Wall Street Journal’s “The One” as she promotes her all-new memoir, Be Ready When the Luck Happens. While discussing her love for the “Cruel Summer” singer, 34, Garten revealed that Swift introduced her to beer pong.

In the video, Garten recalled one of the many times she’s attended a Swift concert. (FYI, the duo have been friends for over a decade.) When it was over, she was invited backstage to play a round of beer pong.

“I’m crazy about Taylor Swift,” the Be My Guest star said. “After the show, she invited us to go to a party that she gave for all of the crew. And my friend Kate said, ‘Let’s go play beer pong!’”

While backstage, Garten ran into former U.S. women’s soccer player Abby Wambach, who became her unofficial beer pong coach. She added, “As we went over there, Abby Wambach—who had just won the World Cup Championship for soccer—came over to me and said, ‘I’m going to be your advisor.’”

Unfortunately, Wambach’s advice wasn’t as useful as the Barefoot Contessa had hoped.  “She said, ‘Get the f***ing ball in the f***ing cup!’” Garten laughed. “And I was like, ‘That’s your advice?’”

As People magazine pointed out, this game of beer pong likely took place during Swift’s 1989 World Tour because Garten referenced Wambach winning the World Cup—and that happened in 2015.

Look what Taylor made Ina do.
