Heard of Candy Crush? Words with Friends? Solitaire? These are all ranked in the top 30 free gaming apps on iTunes. But there’s one you may not have heard of yet, and it’s been quickly making its way up that list since its release in August.
HQ Live Trivia is a game show with a real host streaming right into your phone (yep, it even has real money at stake). The premise: Answer as many questions as you can during live games (9 p.m. every day and 3 p.m. just on weekdays). Get each of the 12 questions right, and you and the other winners split the prize, which often ranges from $1,000 to $8,000.
The rules: You have ten seconds to answer each question, and you’re eliminated after one wrong answer (unless you get an extra life via app referrals).
Sound easy? During one session, nearly 120,000 people played but only 14 won. However, those 14 winners split the $7,500 pot (i.e., they earned $536 each), which can be cashed out via PayPal.
