Watch the New Trailer for HBO’s ‘Serial’ Docuseries, ‘The Case Against Adnan Syed’

FYI, the first season of Serial will never die, thanks to HBO’s upcoming docuseries.

The Case Against Adnan Syed, a binge-watch in four episodes, is slated to premiere sometime this spring. Lucky for all of us true-crime nerds, the first trailer was just released. *Cue chilling music and Sarah Koenig impression*

From the 90-second spot, it appears that the series will (obviously) address the podcast’s role in the investigation of Syed, 38, but will also take the case further (as new developments have been made since the end of season one). The very dramatic trailer calls the show “a new chapter in the story” as a voice-over claims “this is a piece of evidence that no one even realized existed all these years.” Are you on the edge of your seat yet?

And in case you need a brief refresher (it’s been a while), Syed was convicted of killing his high school girlfriend, Hae Min Lee, in 2000, and burying her body in a Baltimore park. He has maintained his innocence throughout the case.

The HBO series is directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Amy Berg (Deliver Us from EvilDogs), and while there’s no release date yet, you can bet we’re adding it to our mental queue.
