Hold on to your fruit tarts, because Netflix just announced it’s going to be getting three new seasons of The Great British Baking Show (aka The Great British Bake Off), plus an old one featuring Mary Berry.
According to Vulture, one of the three new seasons will hit the streaming service on August 31, the second later this year and the third yet-to-be-filmed one will drop sometime in 2019. Netflix has also secured the rights to future seasons of the show. This makes Netflix the only U.S. destination for the show, after PBS lost the rights to the show when it moved from the BBC to Channel 4 in the U.K.
But, fear not, Mary Berry fans, because Netflix is also getting the original season three of the show, which aired in 2012 in the U.K. and features the beloved but demanding judge (she left with the Channel 4 decision). This “prequel” (everything’s gotten kinda wonky with the British/U.S. season numbering since the move) will be called The Great British Baking Show: The Beginnings. It will become available on Netflix later this year.
And we thought making Swiss rolls was confusing…
