One lucky track just dethroned “This Is America” by Childish Gambino for a highly coveted honor.
Tonight, the 62nd annual Grammy Awards took place at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles. During the ceremony, “Bad Guy” by Billie Eilish won the award for Song of the Year.
The track was up against a slew of worthy nominees, including “Always Remember Us This Way” by Lady Gaga, “Bring My Flowers Now” by Tanya Tucker, “Hard Place” by H.E.R., “Lover” by Taylor Swift, “Norman F***ing Rockwell” by Lana Del Rey, “Someone You Loved” by Lewis Capaldi and “Truth Hurts” by Lizzo.
Song of the Year has been around since the first Grammy Awards ceremony in 1959. Since the category recognizes a single track, the award is given to the songwriter who wrote the lyrics. In some cases, this doesn’t always include the artist who performed it.
