The real star of the red carpet, ladies and gents

Gayle King brought the glitz and the glam to the 2024 Golden Globes when she stepped onto the red carpet rocking a silk purple one-shoulder dress designed by Solace London. And this past weekend, the CBS News anchor was clearly on her fashion A-game when she completely shut down the 2024 CMT Music Awards red carpet donning a sparkly, green number.

The 69-year-old journalist walked the star-studded carpet wearing a shimmery green pant suit with matching pointed heels. While rocking her chestnut brown hair in a short bob with wispy bangs, King paired the ensemble with a silver pendant necklace and drop earrings.

And if that weren’t enough, the TV personality received a very special shout-out from country music star Jelly Roll, who did a clean sweep at this year’s CMT Music Awards. At one point during the ceremony (per US Weekly), singer-songwriter Kelsea Ballerini joked about the 39-year-old musician giving out free hugs at the awards show—and that’s exactly what Jelly Roll did. In the snap below, the Nashville singer went on to hug King, who was sitting in the audience.

But that’s not even the best part. During the ceremony, Jelly Roll took home the award for Video of the Year and mentioned the broadcast journalist in his acceptance speech. While onstage, he said, “Gayle King, I’m going to be a little late in the morning because we’re gonna party [in] Austin. Let’s go!” (FYI, the singer and rapper won Video of the Year for “Need a Favor,” along with two other awards: Male Video of the Year and CMT Performance of the Year.)

First the Golden Globes and now this? Gayle is really out here living her best life and I love that for her.
