Some couples *always* look their best, and Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade are one of them. The pair looked peak glamorous on the red carpet at the 96th Annual Academy Awards.
Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade Stole the Show on the Oscars Red Carpet
The peplum is officially back
Union stunned in a two-piece, strapless Carolina Herrera number, Stuart Weitzman shoes, a Tiffany necklace and small earrings. The dress features a peplum layer atop a maxi skirt, both in stunning silver. Her top knot made the glittering outfit look even more sleek and sophisticated. Wade rocked a custom Versace fit, featuring black trousers, a white tuxedo jacket with black trim, a black bowtie and black dress shoes.
Wade is the co-executive producer of The Barber of Little Rock, which has been nominated for an Oscar in the Best Documentary Short category. The film investigates America’s racial wealth gap through the lens of Arlo Washington, a local barber who founded a nonprofit community bank, People Trust.
Wade worked alongside co-excutive producers Dan Cogan and Liz Garbus. The short doc was co-directed by John Hoffman and Christine Turner.
When ABC reporter George Pennacchio asked Wade, “Why did you say, ‘I need my name on this movie, I need people to know about it,’” he responded, “First of all, because of Arlo Washington. We need more Arlo Washingtons in our community, the Black community.”
He emphasized the importance of telling the story of the racial wealth gap and thinking about what we can do and how we can provide for others.
The couple is no stranger to the Oscars. They both worked on the 2019 animated short, Hair Love, a film about a man styling his daughter’s hair for the first time. Issa Rae lent her voice to the role of the mother in the film.
Hair Love won the Best Animated Short Film category in 2020, so fingers crossed they have another lucky night.
