Gabrielle Union’s daughter, Kaavia, is growing up too fast.
This week, the Bring It On alum, 51, shared a video collage on her personal Instagram account, featuring never-before-seen footage of herself and her 5-year-old daughter, Kaavia.

The clip features videos of the pair dancing, playing, cuddling and bonding as a mother-daughter duo. The caption read, “Raising her to blossom in any environment [pink flower emoji].”
Followers filled the comments section with supportive messages of the mother-daughter duo. One person wrote, “You have such a beautiful daughter [heart-eyed emoji] enjoy every moment because they grow up fast.” Another added, “Kavia’s natural hair is absolutely beautiful.” Someone even noted Kaavia’s resemblance to her father, Dwyane Wade: “Look like daddy spit her out! Twins for real!!”
Back in 2018, Union posted a photo on Instagram and wrote a caption explaining the meaning behind Kaavia’s name, which has Indian/Sanskrit origins and means “a work of art.”
The caption read, “Just greazzzy and happy. That is all. @kaaviajames pronounced Kah-Vee-Uh James. She has 102 nicknames including but not limited to Kaav, Kaavi, Kaavi Baby, Kaavi J, Jamie, KJ, Nugget, Nug, Pooters.”
She also discussed the relevance of her daughter’s full name, writing, “We wanted to include my family in her name so the ‘James’ is from my uncle James Francis Glass who is also my godfather. Union is her middle name. I’ve waited this long so fo sho I was gonna get in there.”
