Disney Just Revealed the First ‘Frozen 2’ Teaser Trailer, and Elsa Might Have a Girlfriend

Forget winter. Autumn is coming.

Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and Olaf are all back in the new Frozen 2 trailer from Disney, which shows a glimpse of a few new characters (and new hairdos!), and ends with a dramatic shot of a fall landscape covering the enchanted kingdom of Arendelle.

The original voice cast—Idina Menzel as Elsa, Kristen Bell as Anna, Jonathan Groff as Kristoff and Josh Gad as Olaf—are all back for the sequel. There will also be new characters as well: This Is Us’s Sterling K. Brown and Westworld’s Evan Rachel Wood have both been added to the vocal cast.

One of the film’s directors, Jennifer Lee, revealed back in March of last year that Elsa could have a girlfriend in the new film. After the original Frozen film hit theaters in 2013, fans speculated that Elsa’s song “Let It Go” sounded like a coming out song and took to Twitter to share their opinions using the hashtag #GiveElsaAGirlfriend.

“I love everything people are saying [and] people are thinking about with our film―that it’s creating dialogue,” Lee said. “That Elsa is this wonderful character that speaks to so many people.”

While Lee didn’t confirm whether Elsa will be openly gay for the sequel, she did give fans hope, saying, “We have tons of conversations about it, and we’re really conscientious about these things.”

Just two weeks ago, the cast shared a Frozen 2 reunion picture, which may have dropped major hints about Sven the reindeer’s character (including one about The Rock voicing the animal character).

The movie is set to premiere in November 22, 2019.
