Emily Blunt Just Took One of Summer’s Coolest Color Combinations for a Test Drive

Ever since Meghan Markle wore that purple and red outfit, we’ve been rethinking our approach to unexpected color combinations. Then, Maisie Williams paired an all pink ensemble with an orange purse at Wimbledon, and pushed us even further out of our all-neutrals comfort zone. Now, Emily Blunt has brought the unexpectedly chic fusion pink and orange to the red carpet. And you know what? We totally think it has staying power.

The 36-year-old Mary Poppins Returns star looked radiant while walking the carpet at the American Institute for Stuttering’s 13th annual Gala at Gustavino’s in New York last night.

She wore a bubblegum pink Elie Saab gown with bodycon panels, lace cutouts, a bow at the neck, three-quarter sleeves and a pleated skirt. Although the dress isn’t available for purchase, Ewa Herzog’s halter neck tiered gown ($388) and Marcia Lucia’s Iselin maxi dress ($537) have similar vibes. If you’re looking for something a bit more casual, the LoveShackFancy Helena number ($545) has a certain je-ne-sais-quoi about it that reminds us of her look.

Blunt’s pop of orange color came from the Sophia Webster Rosalind two-tone patent-leather sandals ($395). The insole and 3.5-inch stiletto heel expertly matched the pink of her dress, while the orange straps created an on-trend dichotomy we can’t wait to replicate.

She completed the look with pale pink floral hoop earrings and iridescent makeup.

If ever there was an English rose on the red carpet, it’s definitely her.
