Emilia Clarke Finally Addressed the ‘GoT’ Starbucks Cup Fiasco (& Dragged Jason Momoa Into It)

Remember when HBO had to digitally erase a Starbucks cup from season eight, episode four of Game of Thrones? Well, Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) is finally speaking out about the incident, and her tell-all photo speaks volumes.

Yesterday, the 32-year-old actress addressed the fiasco once and for all by sharing a photo on Instagram. The pic features herself holding a Starbucks beverage as she poses with Jason Momoa (Khal Drago) and Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister).

She captioned the post, “Did I just stumble upon the truth here?! The cup bearer does not drinketh the Starbucks tea… oh and this ain’t a spoiler just a lost wanderer coming home for a mid-filming cuppa…@prideofgypsies you so fire you make my hair turn blue.”

Basically, Clarke is trying to put the blame on Momoa. She hints that although she’s holding the beverage, that doesn’t mean it’s hers.

Clarke’s post is in response to a filmography error in the most recent episode of GoT. It all started when fans realized that a Starbucks cup was visibly sitting on a table during one of the scenes.

The moment took place around the 17-minute mark and featured Tormund (Kristofer Hivju) congratulating Jon (Kit Harington) on his successes while Daenerys sat in a nearby chair…with a Starbucks cup in front of her.

HBO later released a statement, saying, “The latte that appeared in the episode was a mistake. Daenerys had ordered an herbal tea.” The network then digitally erased the cup and re-uploaded the episode, as if nothing happened.

What happens in Westeros stays in Westeros.
