We’re still trying to wrap our heads around the fact that Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow are related, but it appears the two GoT stars are adjusting to their new norm just fine.
Earlier today, Emilia Clarke trolled her accidental incestuous relationship with Kit Harington by sharing an epic “family photo” on Instagram.
The pic features Clarke and Harington sticking their heads through a wooden prop. “The family portrait,” she captioned the post, along with several hashtags—like #okmaybehereiseetheresemblance and #jeneregretterien, which translates to “I regret nothing” in French.
The photo is referring to the bombshell that dropped in the season eight premiere of Game of Thrones—when Jon discovered that his lover, Daenerys, is actually his aunt. (He’s the son of her brother, Rhaegar Targaryen, and Ned Stark’s sister, Lyanna.)
So, what does it mean for the future of their relationship? Only time will tell, but the most obvious problem is that Jon is now more eligible to take over the Iron Throne than Khaleesi. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Clarke discussed the revelation and confirmed that Daenerys is more fixated on him being a threat than related.
“The related thing, to her, is so normal,” she said. “She could have easily married her brother. It’s not a thing. It’s a thing for Jon, but let’s just forget about that. The main thing is we’re up for the same promotion, and I’ve been working for it for my entire existence. This is my whole existence. Since birth!”
We’ll consider this the “before s**t hits the fan” picture. Game of Thrones airs on Sundays at 9 p.m ET/6 p.m. PT on HBO.
