Is Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson Running for President?! Here's What We Know

We know Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson as a famous actor, wrestler and producer, but now there are rumors that he might run for...president?

The Jumanji star shared a Newsweek graphic that said "46% Want Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson as President" on his Instagram account yesterday. Along with the screenshot, Johnson said, "Humbling. I don’t think our Founding Fathers EVER envisioned a six-four, bald, tattooed, half-Black, half-Samoan, tequila drinking, pick up truck driving, fanny pack wearing guy joining their club - but if it ever happens it’d be my honor to serve you, the people."

The Rock made the post following a poll that indicated "at least 46% of Americans would support a presidential run" from the Fast & Furious celebrity. While Johnson has not confirmed that he is running for any sort of political office, the idea is not entirely out of left field.

On the NBC series Young Rock, which is based on the life of the 48-year-old actor, the adult version of Johnson (played by The Rock himself) runs for office in the 2032 presidential election.

And while that aspect of the series is entirely fictional, the star discussed his political aspirations in an interview with Entertainment Tonight back in 2018. When asked if he was meeting with political experts, Johnson said, "This is where you get me in trouble. [The meetings are] just really to understand more and to learn more...The idea of running for president has been very flattering that a good amount of people have been wanting me to run and honestly, it's so flattering, but I feel like the most respectful thing I could do is just learn as much as I could possibly do."

Johnson has certainly got a lot on his plate with the filming of his new superhero flick, Black Adam, as well as the fact that he's a father to three daughters: Simone, Jasmine and Tiana. We'll just have to wait to see if he adds politics to the mix.
