Maybe we should start calling Duchess Sophie “Captain Sophie” after her recent solo trip to Guernsey, where the 59-year-old royal set sail on the Ocean Youth Trust South’s vessel called “The Prolific.”

In a new video shared on the royal family’s Instagram page, the Duchess of Edinburgh (who is the patron of U.K.’s Sail Training) appears at ease as she “takes the helm,” giving off major sailor vibes in the process.

In one clip, the mother of two can be seen sporting a low pony with a 2024 Paris Olympics cap and a sleek navy blue jacket. Meanwhile, another clip shows the duchess is all smiles as she poses for a photo with the young contestants ahead of the small ship race from Guernsey to Poole. FYI, the race marks the 200th anniversary of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI for short).

The caption read, “Her Royal Highness wished everyone participating safe and happy travels - and the very best of luck!”

This latest appearance comes almost a week after Duchess Sophie released a rare personally signed message on social media. To commemorate Team GB’s performance in the Track Cycling competition at the 2024 Paris Olympics, the royal shared a statement that read: “As Patron of @GBHockey and @BritishCycling, it has been a wonderful few days in Paris watching so many inspiring sporting moments at the @Olympics. Congratulations to everyone at @TeamGB. It was a thrill to see you compete—you have done us so proud.” And the royal duchess signed the caption with her first name, “Sophie.”

It’s nice to see this sporty side of the duchess.
