Throughout her impressive career, Dolly Parton, 77, has not only racked up musical hits, but she's also kept her makeup game strong, and it turns out she keeps her face beat even when she sleeps.

In the “Jolene” singer's new book, Behind the Seams: My Life in Rhinestones, she reveals that she’s been sleeping with her makeup on since the ’80s. However, Parton’s got two good reasons for doing what makes skincare experts cringe.

In a snippet from the book, provided by Insider, the Steel Magnolias actress writes: “When I arrived in LA in the ’80s, I started sleeping with my makeup on, partly because of the earthquakes. I thought, ‘I’m not heading out on the streets without makeup in case there are cameras out there! I'm going to be ready to go!’”

In addition to being ready for the paparazzi, the “9 to 5” singer was also thinking about her husband, Carl Dean (who she has been married to since 1966). “I don't want to go to bed looking like a hag with Carl,” Parton jokes.

Now, you're probably thinking about the fact that dermatologists strongly recommend washing your makeup off before bed. But don't fret, because Parton still takes care of her skin.

“It doesn't matter when you clean your face as long as you clean it once a day,” the country music legend writes. “After I wake up, I do all the little rituals, and then I start over again and go out every day and look good all day long.”

This makes sense, coming from the woman who has stated that she always wears wigs so that she never has a bad hair day. “I have a big hair day, but not a bad hair day,” Parton joked on Home & Family.

Seems like Dolly has the perfect system figured out.
