Dolly Parton Has One Comical Demand for the Casting of Her Biopic

Aretha. Elvis. Elton. Amy. It seems like every musical icon is getting a movie made about their life these days. But you know who could be next? Dolly Parton.

During a visit to CBS Mornings, the “9 to 5” singer discussed the potential for a biopic about her life, saying that a script had been “floating around” for a few months. In terms of casting someone to portray her, Parton said, “Well, she would need to have my spirit, I would think. She’d have to have a lot of that fire and spunk.” Then, the country artist comically added, “And she’d have to have some boobs, of course. Whether they were homemade or whether they were real.”

Following that amusing note, Parton added, “She’d have to look the part. She’d have to be a little over-exaggerated…That would be pretty easy, even a boy could do that.”

However, when asked if there were any stars she had in mind, the “I Will Always Love You” songstress said, “Well, I don’t know. I think when it gets to that point, we’ll be auditioning a lot of different people. And we’ll just have to see.”

In the past, Parton has shown her admiration for Kristin Chenoweth, and when rumors of her biopic first started going around, Chenoweth even made a tweet that showed her interest in the role. “I’m ready Dolly,” she wrote.

There have been talks of a Dolly-focused movie for almost a year now. Originally, the singer-songwriter had developed a Broadway show to tell her story, but it ended up getting scrapped due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

While stopping by Mr. Nashville Talks in 2022, Parton said, “I do intend someday to be on Broadway, but I'm thinking now that I might do my life story as a feature, and maybe, possibly even, a musical feature. And so...we're in talks about that.”

We really hope this film comes to fruition, and we hope they fulfill all your wishes, Dolly (boobs and all).
