Demi Moore Says She Considered Quitting Acting But This Role Changed Her Mind

Actress Demi Moore, who has been serving look after look since embarking on the Feud: Capote Vs. The Swans press tour back in January, is now making headlines for another reason: She considered quitting acting before her latest movie role came along.

In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, the 61-year-old actress explained how she went through a period of “questioning” whether or not she should continue acting before starring in her most recent film, The Substance, which earned an 11-minute standing ovation at the 2024 Cannes International Film Festival. 

“It’s not like I ever officially left, but I understand the sentiment and appreciate it because there hasn’t been a project or a role that has come along that has been this dynamic for me to really dive into and sink my teeth into,” Moore told EW. 

She continued, “I went through a period of even questioning whether this is what I should still be doing. In the last four years or so, I felt that it was a personal question that I wanted to explore and see. Was this where I should be putting my energy? When you plant seeds, you wait to see what grows.”
