Today’s Top Stories: Kate Middleton Sits Courtside, ‘The Little Mermaid’ Movie News & More…

The Daily Scoop: Here, everything you need to know for July 2, 2019.

  • Kate Middleton is looking aces at Wimbledon today. The Duchess of Cambridge made a surprise appearance at the tennis tournament wearing a white Suzannah shirtdress and Alexander McQueen belt as she watched British player Harriet Dart play American Christina McHale.
  • Disney's live-action remake of The Little Mermaid just cast Awkwafina (Crazy Rich Asians) and Jacob Tremblay (Room) as its Scuttle and Flounder (aka Ariel's talking-animal BFFs, a seagull and a fish, respectively), according to Variety. Rumors are that Zendaya will play Princess Ariel, and Melissa McCarthy will portray Ursula, but Disney has yet to confirm the news.
  • Netflix released the first look at their new fantasy series The Witcher starring Henry Cavill. The series, which may fill the fantasy void leftover from Game of Thrones, is due out this fall.
  • In food news, lower-cal ice cream company Halo Top is launching high-protein milkshakes. Each 16-ounce shake will be between 330-350 calories, and they all have a least 21 grams of protein and 30% of the recommended daily value of calcium. The catch? They're only available at Subway in six test markets from July 22 through September.

  • Also, prosecco purses are now a thing, apparently. The six-pack carrier is by Ruffino and made of waterproof see-through PVC. It was available for preorder for $100 via ReserveBar, but recently sold out. Fingers crossed they restock when the bags start shipping on July 8.
