Everything We Know About Cooke Maroney, Jennifer Lawrence's New Fiance

Like the rest of the world, we woke up to the news that Jennifer Lawrence is engaged. Also like the rest of the world, we asked ourselves, “Who the heck is Cooke Maroney?”

Here’s what we know about J.Law’s beau:

OK, this isn’t exactly a “new” romance, if you’re considering the whirlwind celeb engagements of late (Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Chris Pratt). Maroney and Lawrence have dated since last May, according to E! News. They were introduced by a mutual friend, Laura Simpson, whom Lawrence brought with her as a date to the 2014 Oscars.

He’s a 34-year-old art gallery director at Gladstone 64, an art gallery on New York City’s Upper East Side. Before that, he studied art history at New York University and worked at the prestigious Gagosian gallery, according to The Cut.

He grew up in Vermont, according to Us Weekly. He attended the premiere of The Favourite, starring Lawrence’s ex, Nicholas Hoult, with her in October. (But no word on how he feels about Lawrence’s more recent ex, Mother! director Darren Aronofsky).

He has a private Instagram account (*shakes fist at sky*) but is a pretty big name in the NYC art scene. According to The Cut, sources close to Maroney say he goes to lots of art-world parties and is “definitely fun-loving but I wouldn’t say he’s out of control.”

If his interest in the arts is any indication, this wedding is set to be a masterpiece. (See what we did there?)
