We're always a little on guard whenever April Fools' Day rolls around, since any major life updates or shocking news that people share to social media may wind up being a big joke. However, Colin Jost, 40,  totally didn't get the memo, as was apparent when his Weekend Update co-host, Michael Che, 39, pranked him during their latest Saturday Night Live segment.

This week's episode happened to air on April 1, making it the perfect opportunity for Che to pull a fast one.

It all started at the beginning of the sketch, when Jost told a few jokes about former President Donald Trump's indictment in New York, which got a smattering of chuckles from the audience. However, when it was Che's turn to joke about the same subject, his lines were met with uproarious laughter. Jost's next quip caused someone in the audience to yell, “You stink!”

As it turned out, the poor audience response was all set up by Che ahead of the sketch. After the comment from the audience member, Che started laughing and admitted to Jost: “I told them not to laugh at you for April Fools'.”

Jost then confessed that he thought something was going wrong: “I was truly like, ‘Am I not mic’d’?’ And then I was like, ‘Oh I just suck.’”

As the audience laughed, Jost told Che: “You're evil!...That’s the meanest thing you’ve ever done to me. I am covered in sweat.”

Once the satirical news program resumed, the crowd starting cheering for Jost, and he shot back: “Don't you even dare try now.”

That was well done, Michael Che.
