Watch Christina Tosi Teach Jimmy Fallon and Questlove How to Make a Popcorn Cake (Antics Ensue)

What do you get when you put pastry chef and co-founder of Milk Bar Christina Tosi in a room with Jimmy Fallon and Questlove? Delightful late-night TV and a drool-worthy dessert, is what.

“I know both of you well, I know you both like popcorn,” says Tosi, who also happens to be a PureWow 100 committee member, as the segment begins. So naturally, the three make the popcorn layer cake from her most recent cookbook, All About Cake. (Psst: It’s also available for online order. You only live once.)

For as complicated as the inventive confection sounds (it involves making both “popcorn milk” and “popcorn pudding”), Tosi reassures Jimmy, Questlove and the audience that it’s actually pretty easy to pull off (one of many reasons we love her).

Best moment: While Questlove artfully douses the cake in said popcorn milk with Tosi’s “janky” spoon (a technical term), Fallon spoons popcorn pudding into his mouth with his “lizard hands.”

This is all to say, the three seem like close friends and are a delight to watch. Tosi even went so far as to customize each slice for Fallon and Questlove because, like she says, “the only rule of baking is ‘do you.’” We never thought we’d be craving popcorn cake, but now we can’t stop thinking about it.
