Now that Game of Thrones is officially over, we’re in desperate need of a new TV series. While we could easily get lost in the expansive list of titles on Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu, we have definitive proof that HBO’s newest miniseries, Chernobyl, is well worth the watch.
IMDB recently confirmed that Chernobyl is the highest ranked TV series in history, with 9.7 out of 10 stars and more than 75,000 votes. Just let that sink in. The news might surprise some fans, considering the series hasn’t even finished its first season. (It still has one more episode, followed by the season finale.)
Chernobyl is gaining popularity due to its historical nature, since it’s based on the catastrophic 1986 explosion at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine. The show takes place in the aftermath of the accident and follows the brave men and women who saved Europe from potential disaster.
The miniseries stars Jared Harris (Valery Legasov), Stellan Skarsgård (Boris Shcherbina), Emily Watson (Ulana Khomyuk), Paul Ritter (Anatoly Dyatlov), Jessie Buckley (Lyudmilla Ignatenko), Adam Nagaitis (Vasily Ignatenko), Con O’Neill (Viktor Bryukhanov) and Adrian Rawlins (Nikolai Fomin).
