This past Saturday, Spencer, 59, went on Instagram to dedicate a heartfelt tribute to his mother, Frances Shand Kydd, on what would have been her 88th birthday. On January 20, the British author shared a grainy black-and-white photo on his IG Story.

The childhood throwback shows a younger Spencer sitting on a park swing with his mom standing right above him. Meanwhile, per the Daily Mail, Spencer and Diana’s older sister, Lady Elizabeth Sarah Lavinia McCorquodale, is beaming next to the pair. But the birthday tribute didn’t stop there. Spencer, who currently resides in Althorp, posted another throwback picture on his personal Instagram page. However, this time around, the tribute featured his late older sister, Princess Diana. As shown below, the post featured old newspaper clippings of the former Princess of Wales. One headline reads, “Lord and Lady Althorp’s third daughter christened.”

In the caption, Spencer wrote, “Remembering my mother, with love and gratitude, on what would have been her 88th birthday. #RIP #1936 #mother #88thbirthday #heavenlybirthday.”

Royal admirers quickly flocked to the comments section to highlight the striking resemblance between the late Frances and Diana. One person wrote, “Diana looks so like her.” Another Instagram user gushed over the extremely rare baby pic of Diana, writing, “Aww baby Diana.”
