Although Althorp House, the childhood home of Princess Diana, her brother Charles Spencer and their two sisters, is open to the public each and every summer in July and August, it's rare to be able to catch a glimpse of the grand property at night. This week, Charles took to his personal Instagram to share a photo of Althorp in all its glory under the moon.

His caption reads, "The Moon over the Althorp Stables tonight." In this photograph, Spencer chronicles the Althorp House's stable, where in 2022 he shared that building, erected in the early 1700s, was crafted to house 100 horses and 40 grooms (those who tend to the horses).

He continued by saying, "The building is made from the beautiful, local, ironstone—a warm, soft, material that glows in the sunshine, as is the case today, in early morning light. In World War I, Canadian infantrymen were billeted here. World War II saw children evacuated from London living safely here before being reunited with their parents."

"It’s more beautiful than the main house here, in my view," Spencer said marveling at the property.

This week's post shows Althorp House's stables, at night, shining brightly through the use of exterior uplighting under a near full moon. Seemingly hidden from view are the usual green sprawling lawns in front of the estate.

According to Business Insider, the property which is located in Northamptonshire, England, is a whopping 14,000 acres and the estate itself is 100,000 square feet featuring 31 bedrooms. The house is full of a near endless collection of ceramics, paintings and furniture. Young Charles Spencer used to give tours to those wishing to view the property on his breaks from school back in the 1980s. It's also interesting to note that Althorp House is actually the final resting place of Princess Diana. However, her gravesite is strictly off-limits to maintain respect and the family's privacy.

Hats off to Charles for sharing more historical Spencer updates. We'll have our eye on his Instagram as he documents new perspectives of the Althorp House or maybe even some rare family photos.
