His concerns are valid

Princess Diana’s brother, Charles Spencer, is the latest royal family member to weigh in on the Kate Middleton conspiracy theories.

This week, the historian, 59, sat down for an interview with BBC’s Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg to discuss the public scrutiny that Princess Catherine, 42, is receiving ever since she underwent abdominal surgery back in January. Spencer even compared the situation to Princess Diana’s and revealed that the media is ignoring boundaries (yet again).

When asked about the rumors, Spencer responded, “I do worry about what happened to the truth.”

If you recall, Princess Diana passed away in 1997 after being chased by paparazzi. While the Princess of Wales is used to public attention, Spencer explained that the media is treating her in a similar way by pushing the boundaries of what is (and isn’t) acceptable.

“I think it was more dangerous back in the day,” he added. “If I look back to ’97 and Diana’s death, I think that was so shocking, the circumstance of her death was so shocking, that it did make the industry that supports the paparazzi really consider more carefully what it could and couldn’t do. Not because they had a moral judgment, but because it was unacceptable to the public.”

The “controversy” began earlier this year when the royal family announced that Princess Catherine underwent abdominal surgery. Although the palace has provided several updates about her recovery, the public seems to think there’s more to the story.

These suspicions grew when the royal family released a photo for Mother’s Day, featuring the Princess of Wales posing with her three children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5. Fans were quick to point out that the picture was Photoshopped, which further fueled the gossip about Princess Catherine’s whereabouts.
