From vintage family portraits and touching tributes to historical insights, I'm always fascinated by the content on Charles Spencer's feed. So, of course, when I stumbled upon the 9th Earl Spencer's most recent discovery at his stunning estate, I was immediately intrigued.

In case you're unaware, Spencer, 60, currently resides at Althorp House in Northamptonshire, which was the home of his sister, Princess Diana. In his latest post, he shared an image of the remains of an ancient well that dates back hundreds of years. Spencer captioned the photo, "Excavating a Roman well at Althorp, and realizing it’s as beautiful as any modern sculpture."

One fan commented, "I love Roman history! Very exciting that you are excavating at Althorp." Another wrote, "Incredible find, how exciting."

If you recall, in April 2023, Spencer revealed on Instagram that there was an ancient Roman villa located at the 13,000-acre estate, and he announced his plans to explore the historic property.

The author and historian wrote, "Since I was a child, I’ve been fascinated by the tale of an ancient Roman villa that lies beneath a field at Althorp. First located a century ago, it has remained an enigma ever since. Thanks to a brilliant team of experts, we're now one step closer to unlocking the secrets of the people who lived at Althorp more than a millennium before my family settled here."

He continued, "This week, on Spencer1508.com, we're excited to share the first in a series of episodes about this remarkable expedition, led by the archaeologists Dr. Cat Jarman, Dr. Siân Thomas, and Professor Mark Horton."

At the time, he shared a pic of the remains of a well and confirmed that two of them were being excavated at his estate.

In his IG story, he wrote, "One of two wells in Alhorp's Roman villa that we will be opening up in 2024. #happynewyear."

Keep the exciting archaeological finds coming, Charles.
