In addition to her eight (!) Grammy Awards and countless hits, Céline Dion boasts three boys, 18-year-old René-Charles and 9-year-old twins Nelson and Eddy, whom she welcomed with her late husband René Angélil. From their interests to their star signs, here’s everything we know about Céline Dion’s children.
Everything We Know About Céline Dion’s Children
René-charles Angélil
As one of fourteen children, it’s no surprise that Dion wanted to start a family. And after years of trying, Dion and Angélil welcomed their firstborn on January 25, 2001. (So, he’s an Aquarius.)
Sadly, the elder Angélil had already been diagnosed with cancer before René-Charles’s birth. Before he started chemotherapy, he and Dion turned to in vitro fertilization and Dion underwent several surgeries to aid them in their efforts to start a family. The couple was extremely open about their fertility struggles.
Now, René-Charles is a musician like his mom, specifically, a SoundCloud rapper who goes by the name Big Tip. He frequently posts pics of himself with stars like Drake, Rihanna, Post Malone and P-Diddy on his personal Instagram for his nearly 90,000 followers to see. Although he currently appears to be focused on his rap career, René-Charles spends his free time golfing and attending concerts and hockey games.
Eddy Angélil
Named for Eddy Marnay, a songwriter who produced Dion’s first five albums, Eddy and his fraternal twin brother, Nelson, arrived on October 23, 2010 at 11:11 and 11:12 a.m. (it’s not clear who the elder twin is). The little Scorpios made their grand debut at St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Florida, via Caesarean section. Interestingly, Dion has yet to specify which son is which.
Nelson Angélil
Nelson is named after former South African president Nelson Mandela (a worthy namesake). Shortly after he and his brother Eddy were born, they appeared with their mother on the cover of Hello Canada looking all sorts of cute in matching onesies.
The now 9-year-old boys lead a relatively private life, but we do know that they love Michael Jackson and even had a MJ-themed 7th birthday party. They’ve also become mature enough now that Dion opted to leave them at home in Las Vegas while she went on her Courage World Tour earlier this year. This past April, she explained, “I’m going to do the world tour but back and forth—I’ll come home as much as possible. That’s going to be the first time that I’m not going on tour with my kids.”
We’ll have to wait and see if these two have any musical talents of their own.
