Catherine Zeta-Jones's son, Dylan Michael Douglas, turned 23 this week—and no one is more excited than his mom.
On Instagram, Zeta-Jones, 53, gushed about her eldest child, describing him as the "gift that keeps on giving." The Wednesday star posted a throwback pic where she's seen holding Dylan as a newborn baby. She wrote, "23 years ago today, my boy @dylan__douglas was born. He is the gift that keeps on giving, over and over and over and over again. I love you my love."
Zeta-Jones's husband, Michael Douglas, also celebrated the occasion with a tribute, featuring a recent portrait of his son. Douglas wrote, "Happy birthday Dylan! May YOUR new year, bring you joy, imagination, and love! Your biggest fan, Dad."
In response, Zeta-Jones commented, "Happy birthday my boy." One fan also wrote, "A beautiful mixture of you and Catherine."
Dylan is the oldest of Zeta-Jones and Douglas's two children. The pair also share a 20-year-old daughter named Carys, and Douglas shares Cameron Douglas, 44, with Diandra Luker.
While speaking with the Sydney Morning Herald in 2021, Zeta-Jones revealed why she chose to raise her kids away from the spotlight. She said, “We wanted them to have a normal childhood, not being photographed going to school every day. We didn’t want them to be on film sets with a tutor. If I was working, Michael would be home with them, and vice versa."
She added, “I’m very conscious of my kids being very rooted, very down to earth, and I’m always big on manners. I get complimented on how unaffected they are and that’s because they weren’t brought up in Hollywood. We managed to retain some of their childhood longer than other folk.”
