They may only be mother and son on screen in Home Alone, but it's clear that Catherine O'Hara, 69, and Macauley Culkin, 43, have remained close throughout the years.
This past Friday, December 1, Culkin was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and O'Hara was one of the guest speakers at the ceremony.
As she walked up to the stage, O'Hara joked that she didn't realize Culkin would be standing right next to her as she gave the speech. “I know. Me too!” Culkin agreed. “Well I have a little speech to make about you,” she added. “So pretend you're not here.”
In her address, the Schitt's Creek actress praised Culkin's performance in Home Alone, saying, “The reason families all over the world can't let a year go by without watching and loving Home Alone together is because of Macaulay Culkin.”
As O'Hara went on to commend Culkin's humor and the intelligence he's brought to his performances, she closed by saying, “Thank you for including me, your fake mom who left you home alone not once but twice, to share in this happy occasion.”
Culkin's ceremony was certainly a star-studded affair, as the other featured speaker was Orange Is the New Black star Natasha Lyonne. Meanwhile, Culkin's partner, Brenda Song, 35, was in attendance with their two sons, making this the first public appearance for the pair's kids.
The couple welcomed their first son, Dakota Song Culkin, in April 2021. Then, they secretly welcomed their second child, whose name has not yet been revealed, in December 2022.
Congrats on the Walk of Fame star, Macaulay! So well deserved.
