Carson Rowland is sharing his thoughts on Sweet Magnolias, and it appears we aren’t the only ones who are shipping Ty and Annie.

PureWow recently sat down for an exclusive interview with the 22-year-old actor, who plays Tyler “Ty” Townsend on the popular Netflix series. While Sweet Magnolias hasn’t been renewed for another season (at least not yet), Rowland admitted that he wants to further explore his character’s relationship with Annie Sullivan (played by Anneliese Judge).

“I would love to see what happens with Ty and Annie. They are essentially ‘meant to be,’ and the first season was a chaotic one for those two and their relationship,” he told PureWow. “I cannot wait to see all of the drama that can ensues with Ty and Annie in season two.”

While discussing his character, Rowland revealed that he personally relates to Ty “in several ways.” He continued, “Ty, underneath, is one of the sweetest individuals. However, with his family in shambles and baseball heading down a similar road, he genuinely doesn’t know how to process everything.”

Rowland continued, “I feel like so many people, including myself, can relate to that. I push issues and stressors to the forefront of my mind and sometimes let that control me. But if I would just take a step back and decompress, things would definitely turn out better. Unfortunately, Ty doesn’t take heed to that advice.”

Sweet Magnolias premiered back in May 2020 and has remained one of Netflix’s most-watched series. Rowland confessed he had no idea that the show would resonate with so many people.

“It has just blown me away. While on set, I knew we were making something special, but the response we are getting and the fact so many are resonating with this story warms my heart more than ever,” he continued. “All I could ever want as an actor, artist, and human, is for people to resonate with the work I do, and we accomplished that with Sweet Magnolias.”

Now all we need is for Netflix to renew Sweet Magnolias for season two, because that shocking cliffhanger was so not cool.
