Is there a new Buffy the Vampire Slayer series on the horizon? Well, this spinoff won't be coming to our TV screens, however fans should still get excited because there’s a new original series arriving to Audible on October 12, which will feature voice work from a few of the original cast members.
‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ Cast Members Are Reuniting for Exciting New Series
Get ready, Buffy fans
The new series, titled Slayers: A Buffyverse Story, will focus on Spike, who was played by James Marsters in the original series.
Marsters will reprise his role for the Audible original, but he's not the only star coming back. Other returning cast members include Charisma Carpenter, Emma Caulfield Ford, Anthony Head, Juliet Landau, Amber Benson, James Charles Leary and Danny Strong.
Slayers will premiere on October 12, and according to a press release from Audible, the series will pick up ten years after Buffy ended. “Since then, Spike (James Marsters) has gone deep undercover in Los Angeles, convincing the forces of darkness that he’s back to his evil ways,” the description reads. “When his cover is compromised by sixteen-year-old Indira Nunnally (Laya DeLeon Hayes), Spike finds himself on baby-slayer-sitting duty once more.”
Turns out that one of the returning stars, Benson, also wrote the script for Slayers, along with Christopher Golden, an author of horror and fantasy novels.
It has been over 20 years since Buffy the Vampire Slayer aired its final episode in May 2003. The show lasted for seven seasons and a total of 144 episodes, earning loads of accolades along the way.
In 2018, it was reported that a Buffy reboot was in the works, but in 2022, executive producer Gail Berman announced that the series was put on hold, indefinitely.
We can't wait to return to the Buffyverse.
