Listen up, royally obsessed fans, because there’s been a slight change in plans when it comes to the British royal family’s royal engagement schedule.
On May 22, U.K. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak revealed in a press conference that a general election will take place on July 4, 2024. “Earlier today, I spoke with His Majesty The King to ask for the dissolution of Parliament. The King has granted this request, and we will have a general election on the 4th of July,” he told reporters, according to People.
Shortly after, Buckingham Palace announced that the royal family would postpone some engagements, which “appear to divert attention or distract from the election campaign,” a spokesman for the palace said.
