Netflix Just Cast Four Major New Roles for ‘Bridgerton’ Season 2

It's been two months since Bridgerton season two found its leading lady and three days since Regé-Jean Page revealed he would not be returning (we’re still not over this). Now, it looks like Netflix is well on its way to building a full cast. And we have the deets.

ICYMI: Back in February, we learned that Simone Ashley had been cast as the female lead, Kate Sharma, opposite Jonathan Bailey in the regency hit’s second installment. “Newly arrived in London, Kate is a smart, headstrong young woman who suffers no fools—Anthony Bridgerton very much included,” Deadline reported.

Yesterday, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that four more major roles have been filled by Charithra Chandran (Alex Rider), Shelley Conn (Liar), Calam Lynch (Benediction) and Rupert Young (Dear Evan Hansen). The best part? They are all series regulars.

Per the outlet, Chandran will play Kate’s younger sister, Edwina Sharma, while Lynch will portray Theo Sharpe, a hardworking printer's assistant. Young will play a new member of the town, Jack, while Conn will portray the sisters' mother, Mary Sharma.

As we mentioned above, the exciting news comes just days after we learned that the Duke of Hastings won’t be returning for the next installment. The dreadful news was announced via a message from none other than Lady Whistledown herself.

“Dear Readers, while all eyes turn to Lord Anthony Bridgerton’s quest to find a Viscountess, we bid adieu to Regé-Jean Page, who so triumphantly played the Duke of Hastings,” it read. “We’ll miss Simon’s presence onscreen, but he will always be a part of the Bridgerton family.”

We’re hoping for just good news from now on.
