Blake Shelton’s wedding to Gwen Stefani was one of the most talked about events of the year. However, The Voice coach revealed that not everyone from his past received an invite. (Looking at you, Adam Levine.)
The “God’s Country” singer, 45, appeared on a recent episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show and confirmed that Levine wasn’t invited to his nuptials. But in order to understand why, it’s important to rewind to eight months ago when another Ellen interview became the deciding factor.
Back in April, Levine appeared on the daytime talk show and expressed his disproval of the couple’s relationship. “I don’t support their marriage,” he joked between laughs. “She’s so cool, and he’s not.”
Levine continued, “I’ll go to the wedding, and I’ll object. I will probably not be invited, now that I’m saying this on live television, but I’ll be there, somehow.”
Well, Shelton used Levine’s confession as an excuse to leave him off the guest list. “That’s the reason we didn’t invite to him to the wedding, is that interview he did on your show,” Shelton joked to DeGeneres.
When the host asked if Levine would have received an invite if the interview didn’t happen, Shelton responded, “Well, we’ll never know.”
He concluded, “I purposely did not invite Adam Levine to my wedding—and I think it’s funny.”
Cheers to friendly rivalries!
