Liane Moriarty Finally Spills on Whether There Will Be More ‘Big Little Lies’

Still upset over the Big Little Lies finale? Same. (We hate cliffhangers.) Well, BLL author Liane Moriarty may have more Monterey Five drama up her sleeve.

The author, who penned the book from which the series was based and contributed to the show’s scripts, recently revealed to Variety that there could be more big little lies to be told. But first, she needs a little break.

Moriarty said, “The only thing I had sometimes thought, even before any of this had happened, was maybe jumping ahead to when the children are in high school—years ahead. So, that’s a possibility, but not for years to come. I feel like I would need a break, too, before I did that.” We don’t blame you, Liane.

She’s of course referencing Jane’s (Shailene Woodley) son Ziggy (Iain Armitage), Madeline’s (Reese Witherspoon), youngest daughter Chloe (Darby Camp), Celeste’s (Nicole Kidman) twins Josh (Cameron Crovetti) and Max (Nicholas Crovetti), and Renata’s (Laura Dern) daughter Ammabella (Ivy George).

Moriarty went on to explain that she’s not married to the idea, but she is still interested in the world of Monterey: “That would be for me, for a book, which maybe wouldn’t even have the same characters,” she said. “Maybe I’m in the same town. But I don’t know. It’s just thoughts.”

Speaking of thoughts, HBO president Casey Bloys opened up about a potential third season of the show during the Television Critics Association press tour this past week. “Never say never,” he said. “To me, there’s no obvious place to go. I would certainly be open to it because I love working with all of them.”

As Bloys pointed out, there aren’t any definite plans, but maybe is good enough for us!

Wait, Will There Be a ‘Big Little Lies’ Season 3?
