These 2 Kens Rocked the Oscars Red Carpet (and No, We Don’t Mean Ryan Gosling)

They may be just Ken(s), but the Barbie stars turned heads on the 2024 Oscars red carpet.

Actors Simu Liu and Kingsley Ben-Adir, who played Ken in the Barbie movie, shut down the awards show red carpet with their all-black dapper looks. Liu stepped out in a black Fendi custom suit that displays a low-cut V-neck and a silver rhinestone pin fastened at the waist.

Meanwhile, Ben-Adir popped out with a black Gucci suit, which the Barbie star paired with a black bow tie and a white button-up shirt. The British-born actor accessorized the look with a pair of black loafers.

As we said before, both men played Ken in the Barbie movie—which is nominated for Best Picture at the 96th Academy Awards. While speaking to Allure in July 2023, Liu shared how he was “desperate” to play Ken after starring in the Marvel film, Shang Chi.

“It was hands down the best script that I ever read,” he told the outlet. “I was like, ‘I'll do whatever I need to do—get me in this movie.’”

Ben-Adir (who was also preparing to play Bob Marley in Bob Marley: One Love) told Entertainment Tonight back in January that prepping for both roles was a “slow process.”

“I just wanted to get going, because I was like, 'I'm on this for three and a half months and I can’t waste any time. I have to start now!’” he explained to the publication. “Especially with the guitar and the language, you know? That's gonna be a slow process and you’ve got to get the foundational steps in.”

He added, “On film sets, there's a lot of downtime. It just made sense to go and listen to Bob and try to understand the language and learn the guitar.”

Yup, the Barbie men definitely crushed the 2024 Oscars red carpet.
