Last week on The Bachelorette, Hannah Brown went against everyone’s wishes and gave a rose to Luke Parker, ultimately securing his spot in the highly anticipated hometown dates.
And now, the 24-year-old beauty queen meets the families of her four remaining suitors before making her hardest decision to date. Here’s what went down in season 15, episode nine of the popular dating series.
The episode opens on Brown explaining how important this week’s dates are. Not only is she meeting the people who raised her potential husband(s), but she’s also hoping to secure approval from her possible in-laws.
First up, Brown visits Peter in Westlake Village, California, where he introduces her to his “baby” (aka his car). While he’s driving, Brown “investigates” his ride and finds mints, photos and—drumroll, please—condoms.
When they arrive at a small airport, Peter drops a line about how he’s looking for a “co-pilot for life.” Cut to Peter giving Brown an aerial tour of Southern California, which includes the Bachelor mansion and his childhood home.
“That was hot,” Brown says when they land.
Later on, Peter takes Brown to meet his parents and younger brother, and they welcome her with open arms. (Literally.) After singing a German prayer, Peter gives a mushy toast about his family.
Just then, Peter’s brother pulls Brown aside and asks if she and Peter have said “I love you.” Although they haven’t, she assures him that she wouldn’t be here if she didn’t feel strongly about Peter.
Elsewhere, Peter is chatting with his mom and says that he’s “falling for [Brown] like crazy.” While he hasn’t dropped the l-bomb, he’s slightly hesitant to express those feelings with three other guys in the mix.
At the end of the night, Peter regrets not telling her he loves her. Yikes.
Next, Brown travels to Jupiter, Florida, where she meets up with Tyler. According to Tyler, the “best way to explore Jupiter is by boat,” so that’s exactly what they do. After lathering up in sunscreen, they embark on a water tour of the area.
While Brown is concerned that Tyler isn’t ready for marriage, one thing’s for sure: The physical chemistry isn’t lacking.
“There is no doubt that there is some sexual attraction between Tyler and I,” Brown says. Before heading to his parents’ house, Tyler reminds her that his dad fell ill prior to coming on the show. Although Tyler doesn’t know what condition his dad is in, he knows it will be emotional.
Later on, Brown meets his family, and Tyler immediately breaks down in tears when he sees his dad’s progress. After recapping their Bachelorette journey, Tyler’s dad pulls him aside and says that he can see how much Tyler cares for Brown.
When Brown sits down with Tyler’s brothers, she doesn’t waste any time asking them about whether or not Tyler is ready to be engaged. They admit that Tyler really stepped up when their dad was in the hospital, leading them to believe that he’s ready to settle down and have a family.
After Brown says her goodbyes, Tyler reveals that he’s “falling in love” with her, and she eats it up.
Up next, Brown visits Luke in Gainesville, Georgia, and he’s immediately on his A-game. In an attempt to give her a glimpse into his everyday life, Luke brings her to his Sunday school, where she meets his friends and listens to Luke talk about his “struggles.”
“I was chasing sex,” he says. “And I was entangled and caught up in sin of all kinds.” After turning to religion, Luke felt a weight lifted off his shoulders.
Later that night, Luke introduces Brown to his family. After Brown informs them that Luke created quite a few enemies in the house, Luke’s dad says what we’re all thinking: “Why is he still here?”
Brown’s response? “I have no idea.”
When Luke’s dad pulls him aside, he demands to know what the drama is about. Luke delivers a well-rehearsed speech about how he’s the victim. Barf.
Meanwhile, Brown is chatting with Luke’s brother and sister-in-law, who assure her that Luke is capable of being the man of her dreams. To top it off, his dad says that he has “no doubt” that Luke is ready to get down on one knee.
Although Luke admits that “there are deeper conversations” they need to have, he walks away confident from his hometown date. So confident that he tells Brown he loves her…
Last but not least, Brown meets up with Jed in Knoxville, Tennessee. In a typical Jed move, he takes her to a recording studio, where they write a song together and then lay down the track.
After completing the song, Jed blurts out, “I love you.” In an interview with producers, it’s clear that Brown is smitten, too.
“It’s a great day here in Tennessee,” she says with flushed cheeks.
When he takes her to his family’s house, Brown is as confident as ever, especially after Jed’s l-bomb confession.
After dinner, Jed’s dad asks to speak with him alone. Although Brown seems like a nice girl, his dad still can’t wrap his “head around all of it.” The fact that Jed might propose in a few weeks terrifies him, and while they appear to be getting along, it all seems so fast.
In a conversation with Jed’s mom, Brown opens up about their drama-free relationship. When Brown reveals that she told him she’s falling in love with him, Jed’s mom fires back, saying, “Well, don’t you say that to all of them?”
Brown assures her that she hasn’t confessed any feelings to the other men, but Jed’s mom doesn’t seem to understand. When Brown asks if Jed is ready to be engaged, his mom says that she thinks he’s currently on a different path.
Jed’s sister couldn’t agree more, saying, “Him falling in love with you…I’m not sure it’s a good thing.”
At the rose ceremony, it’s obvious that Brown is torn on who she should send home.
After handing out roses to Peter and Tyler, Brown excuses herself from the group and tells Chris Harrison that she’s unable to make a decision. So, for the first time in Bachelor history, she calls off the rose ceremony, ultimately taking all four men to next week’s Fantasy Suites.
So, who will survive the overnight dates? The Bachelorette returns to ABC next Monday, July 15, at 8 p.m.
