In the clip, Crawley emerges from self-isolation to meet her 30 suitors. “Quarantine day 823?” she jokes. And then adds, “I have been waiting way too long for these kisses.” (#Gross)
Just then, Crawley becomes agitated when the contestants begin to turn on each other. “You think all these guys here are lying to me?” she demands.
Although the trailer concludes with Crawley storming off in tears, the narrator confirms that we have no idea what’s in store.
“The Bachelorette journey began like no other,” the voiceover says. “Now Clare is here to find love…and that’s not all she’ll find. Even if you think you know what happens, you’re not that Clare-voyant.”
Season 16 of The Bachelorette was originally supposed to premiere back in May, but it was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Production resumed a few months later, but it didn’t go as planned. You see, Crawley reportedly broke a cardinal rule and connected on social media with a contestant prior to filming.
A few weeks into production, she decided to quit the show to pursue the mystery man—that way, she wouldn’t lead anyone on. It didn’t take long for ABC to fly in Adams, who promptly filled the position (or so we think).
As for the real story, guess we’ll have to wait until The Bachelorette premieres on Tuesday, October 13, on ABC.
