Ashley Graham just announced that she and her husband, Justin Ervin, are expecting their first child together, and it made us realize that we know nothing about the model’s other half.
From their random meet-cute to their bicoastal marriage, here’s everything you need to know about Graham and Ervin’s relationship.
He’s a cinematographer, director, producer and writer. Ervin’s resume boasts several documentaries and TV shows—like Elephant in the Room, Paranormal State, Derby in Black, 12 Steps to Recovery and UFC Ultimate Insider.
He has also shot videos for Vogue, Guess, The Gap, Swim Suits for All, Staples and Netflix.
Unlike most marriages, Ashley and Justin are bicoastal. (Seriously.) Since Ervin works in Los Angeles, and Graham lives in New York City, the couple agreed to maintain a long-distance relationship.
“We have a rule. We don’t go longer than two weeks without seeing each other,” Graham told Entertainment Tonight. “It’s absolutely fabulous. I love it. We just meet in L.A. or New York. We meet in Paris, Miami. It’s pretty sexy.”
Graham and Ervin met in 2009 while volunteering at a church in New York City. Although the model wasn’t looking for a boyfriend, that all changed when the cinematographer got up the courage to approach her.
“He seemed to be looking into my soul when we talked. He was smart and funny and had traveled the world. So, I agreed to go out for coffee,” Graham told Glamour.
A few months later, Justin popped the question while filming an episode of their webseries, The Justin and Ashley Show.
“I honestly thought it was a joke,” Graham said. “But it was real life.”
Two months after the engagement, the couple tied the knot in an intimate wedding. “For me, I love tradition,” Graham said in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar. “Our vows were traditional, my dress was a bit traditional, but everything else was really modern. [Our wedding] was about celebrating each other.”
In August 2019, Graham revealed that she and Ervin are expecting their first child together. The model announced the news on Instagram with a cute video featuring her growing baby bump.
