For as long as we can remember, Modern Family star Ariel Winter had had long black hair. Sure, she’s had brief interims of red and bronde, but now the 22-year-old says she’s done with her signature hair color forever.
Earlier this week, Winter debuted a brand-new sunny strawberry blonde ’do on Instagram, captioning her slidshow, “I’m a strawberry and a shortcake sooooo new nickname?”
The new copper color truly suits her, but as we learned during a Celebeauty Sit-Down with her hairstylist, Nine Zero One salon’s Tabitha Dueñas, it didn’t come easily.
Dueñas explained that “With Modern Family’s long run ending, Ariel is finally free to have the hair color she wants. She wanted to strip out the black and go back to her strawberry golden blonde look we had done previously when she was on break from filming. She said she never wants to go back to black again.”
With that vision in mind, Dueñas and Winter set out on a seven hour process to unveil the actress’s new look. The celebrity hairstylist explained how they achieved the color: “[It was] done by stripping the black with color remover and then I used lightening cream in multiple rounds.” She added that “all colors were ammonia free,” as to avoid damaging Winter’s hair too much. Last but not least, Dueñas “finished her service with the In Common Crystal Cashmere Treatment [which this editor has tried and loved].” Thanks to the attention to detail and efforts to keep Winter’s hair lustrous and soft, Dueñas reported that “her hair feels as good as it does it did before we colored it!”
We have to say, the hard work was definitely worth it.
