Did Anne Hathaway Just Confirm ‘The Princess Diaries 3’?

Anne Hathaway just revealed that there’s already a script for The Princess Diaries 3 and wait, what?

The Witches star, 36, appeared on yesterday’s episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen and dropped major details about the rumored sequel. When a caller asked about another Princess Diaries movie, Hathaway confirmed, “There is a script for the third movie.” Just let that sink in.

The actress went on to say that Julie Andrews is already on board, adding, “I want to do it. Julie [Andrews] wants to do it. Debra Martin Chase, our producer, wants to do it. We all really want it to happen.”

However, Hathaway’s only hesitation is that it won’t live up to expectations. “It’s just we don’t want to [do it] unless it’s perfect because we love it just as much as you guys love it,” she added. “It’s as important to us as it is to you, and we don’t want to deliver anything until it’s ready, but we’re working on it.”

The Princess Diaries originally premiered in 2001 and starred Hathaway (Mia Thermopolis), Andrews (Queen Clarisse Renaldi), Héctor Elizondo (Joe), Heather Matarazzo (Lilly Moscovitz) and Mandy Moore (Lana Thomas). The sequel, The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, was released in 2004.

The franchise, which is based on Meg Cabot’s 2000 novel of the same name, jumpstarted Hathaway’s career in the entertainment industry. The role led her to star in The Devil Wears PradaGet Smart and Les Misérables, which resulted in an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.

Shut. Up.
