What's The Plot?

Contrary to popular belief, AHS: 1984 won’t be based on the dystopian George Orwell novel. Instead, it will pay tribute to classic ’80s slasher films—like Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street.

Where Will It Take Place?

We just got a new teaser trailer for the show, which will take place at Camp Redwood. The new trailer dials up the campy slasher-horror-film-genre references and looks to center around a group of teens who are terrorized by a masked knife-wielding killer (à la Scream?).

Before the teaser trailer's release on July 29, Murphy debuted a first-look teaser, featuring a girl at a summer camp. The problem? She’s being chased through the woods by a mysterious Richard Ramirez–esque figure, aka a serial killer who terrorized the people of San Fran and L.A. in the mid-’80s.

Who's Returning?

Season nine will feature a number of familiar faces, including Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, John Carroll Lynch, Leslie Grossman and Cody Fern.

Who Isn't Returning?

Unfortunately, AHS veterans Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters will not star in 1984. (The pair appeared in all eight earlier seasons of the show.) Billy Eichner (Cult, Apocalypse) is also calling it quits.

What About Newcomers?

1984 will be loaded with new faces—like Matthew Morrison (Glee), Angelica Ross (Pose), DeRon Horton (Dear White People), Zach Villa (Shameless) and Olympic freestyle skier Gus Kenworthy, who will play Roberts’s boyfriend.
