Gorman shared the cover shot on her Instagram, saying, "The first poet ever on the cover of @voguemagazine . I am eternally grateful & do not expect to be the last—for what is poetry if not beauty?"
And it seems Vogue aren't the only ones trying to collaborate with the 23-year-old. Gorman revealed that she was in talks with IMG Models long before her internet-breaking speech, but following the inauguration, she has had to say "no" to deals totaling around $17 million.
With regards to one offer, she said, "I didn’t really look at the details...because if you see something and it says a million dollars, you’re going to rationalize why that makes sense." However, Gorman is focused on achieving her personal goals, adding, "I have to be conscious of taking commissions that speak to me." The writer even told the magazine that she hopes to run for president one day, and she already has the unofficial endorsement of Hillary Clinton and Michelle Obama (sounds casual).
The author and activist is seen on the new cover wearing a dress by Louis Vuitton designer Virgil Abloh, who fashioned the look after a gown worn by his Ghanaian grandmother. Gorman was styled by Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, with hair by Lacy Redway and makeup by Raisa Flowers. The shots were taken by Annie Leibovitz.
We can't wait to see what she does next.
