When Adele dropped her album 30 late last night, we knew we would probably be balling our eyes out the minute we heard it. While the 33-year-old singer has described this record as the one where she's “divorcing herself,” she also told British Vogue that she recorded much of it for her 9-year-old son, Angelo. “My son has had a lot of questions. Really good questions, really innocent questions, that I just don’t have an answer for,” she said.
It was during this interview that the “Hello” singer also revealed that her anxiety was so bad following her divorce that she confessed, “I’d forget what I had or hadn’t said to Angelo about separating.” Upon telling this to her therapist, her therapist suggested that she start recording voice memos of her conversations with Angelo so that she wouldn't wake up scared in the mornings.
And one of these memos just so happens to make an appearance on 30, in a heart-wrenching track that Adele dedicated to her son, titled “My Little Love.”
“My little love / I see your eyes widen like an ocean / When you look at me so full of my emotions / I'm findin' it hard to be here sincerely / I know you feel lost, it's my fault completely,” she says at the beginning of the track.
