‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Is Bringing Back *This* Major Character for Season 18

Grey’s Anatomy is bringing back another series alum for season 18: Dr. Megan Hunt.

The popular ABC series recently revealed that Abigail Spencer will reprise her role as Dr. Hunt on the drama’s upcoming installment. Per Deadline, Dr.Hunt—who was portrayed on season 14 and 15 of the series—will be present in the first episode premiering on September 30.

Spencer celebrated the news on Instagram, writing “[cat emoji]s out of the [bag emoji]. #MeganHunt is back on @greysabc this season! Thank you to this glorious team & historic show for having me! @kristavernoff.”

If you didn’t know, Dr. Megan Hunt is a trauma surgeon and the little sister of Dr. Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd).  She served in the U.S. Army alongside her older brother before going missing for over a decade. Last we saw Dr. Hunt, she was living in Los Angeles with her adopted son Farouk and fiancée.

Spencer isn’t the only familiar face appearing in episode one. Dr. Ellis Grey (Kate Burton) has also been tapped to return for the new season. Joining both cast members is Peter Gallagher, who will be taking on the role of Dr. Alan Hamilton. As we previously reported, Hamilton has unspecified ties to Dr. Ellis Grey and may be the reason for her return. In addition, several series regulars—like Ellen Pompeo (Meredith Grey), Chandra Wilson (Miranda Bailey) and James Pickens Jr. (Richard Webber) are also reprising their beloved roles.

Welcome back to the team, Dr. Hunt.
