Fortunately, you don’t have to stray too far to score some seriously sweet new bedding. Here’s where to buy bedding online, so you can set yourself up to sleep in the lap of luxury without even leaving your couch. 12 of the Best Linen Sheets That Are Naturally Cooling

Where to Buy Bedding Online

Where to Buy Bedding Online - A bed made up with navy Casper sheets and duvet cover.
Casper

1. Casper

Casper is a popular mattress-in-a-box company that has expanded to include premium sheet and duvet sets in a range of fabrics, including sateen, percale, and cooling Hyperlite. There’s also a new and notable SuperSoft brushed cotton option, which we recently tested and can report is as snuggly as flannel, and as breathable as bamboo. That said, Casper bedding is best for those who prefer a modern, understated aesthetic, since neutral colors (think: grays, blues and earth tones) and white are the only options on offer.

Where to Buy Bedding Online - A bed made with a dark teal colored set of sheets and a duvet cover.
Coyuchi

2. Coyuchi

Coyuchi prides itself on using ethical and sustainable manufacturing practices for the production of its gorgeous and incredibly comfortable organic cotton textiles. The complete collection of percale, sateen, jersey, linen and (extremely warm) flannel bedding boasts a minimalist style and dreamy broken-in feel. We tested the undyed percale sheets—Coyuchi is the only company on our list that offers an undyed option—and found that, though not the softest to the touch, they are pleasantly crisp and do indeed provide a comfy and cool night’s sleep for folks who run warm. Bottom line: If you’re looking to buy swoon-worthy, luxury bedding from a company with a conscience, Coyuchi fits the bill.

Piglet in Bed

3. Piglet in Bed

Folks who favor the airy feel and relaxed look of linen will find what they’re looking for at Piglet in Bed. This UK-based bedding company, which specializes in textiles made from 100 percent European flax linen, made a splash with its gingham bedding line over the summer, and has since expanded the collection to include a rich berry shade for the Fall season. If gingham isn’t your thing, you’ll be pleased to know that Piglet in Bed also has a wide range of trans-seasonal solid shades on offer in its core collection. (The sandstone linen duvet cover we tested was both earthy and chic.) Best of all, the company’s bedding can be purchased a la carte, in bundles, or in mix-and-match sets, so you can get what you need and nothing more.

Where to Buy Bedding Online - A bed is made up with a set of white Serena & Lily sheets and duvet cover. There are gold borders to all of the elements of the set.
Serena & Lily

4. Serena & Lily

Serena & Lily is a California-based luxury home retailer that stands out for its breezy coastal designs. Their full range of bedding features top-notch textiles, including duvet covers and bedspreads designed with the same relaxed-but-refined aesthetic in mind, as well as luxurious sheet sets that come in flannel, percale, featherlight linen and, most notably, sateen cotton that our tester describes as “impossibly soft, buttery and whisper quiet—the ideal blend for someone looking for a luxurious and noiseless night’s sleep.”

5. Parachute

Parachute is an Oeko-Tex certified (i.e., sustainable) brand that boasts a full line of luxury bedding that includes sheet sets in five different styles—organic cotton, sateen, linen, brushed cotton and percale—all of which are made from the finest, long-staple Egyptian cotton.

If you’re in the market for something a little snugglier than a new set of sheets, it’s worth noting that our Editor-in-Chief Jillian Quint gives both the down and down alternative comforters rave reviews: “We have them on matching twin beds for kids with different duvet proclivities, and you’d never know the difference by looking at them. The down option is super warm and cozy, but not as sweat-inducing or bulky as some others I’ve tried, and the down alternative, while different to the touch, is just as warm and a near-perfect visual match.”

Where to Buy Bedding Online - A fluffy rumpled set of sheets and a duvet from Brooklinen are made up on a bed in a brightly lit room.
Brooklinen

6. Brooklinen

You’ve probably already heard of Brooklinen, since they are kind of a big deal in the world of online bedding—an achievement that can be attributed in part to prodigious marketing, but also the fact that their hotel-quality linens truly do live up to the hype. The goods aren’t inexpensive, per se, but they aren’t exorbitantly priced, either. (A queen-sized core set of their best-selling and oh-so buttery sateen sheets will set you back $189, and a queen-sized set of their super luxe heathered cashmere sheets costs $309). If you’re looking for a fancy bedding upgrade that doesn’t completely break the bank, Brooklinen is a safe bet.

Where to Buy Bedding Online - A set of teal and white sheets and a duvet cover from The Company Store make up a bed in a dimly lit room.
The Company Store

7. The Company Store

The Company Store has a long-standing reputation as a down purveyor par excellence—and, having tested both the Legends Luxury Olympia Down Comforter and the Legends Hotel Supreme Down Pillow, we can confirm that it’s a well-deserved one. (Generously filled and seriously lofty, the comforter is a life-changing splurge while the pillow boasts cloud-like fluffiness without sacrificing support.) The Company Store offers a wide range of down products, from pricier 100 percent Goose down options to more affordable feather and down blends. Best of all, customers can choose between different warmth options (light, medium and extra) for the comforters and densities for the pillows (depending on your preferred sleeping position).

We’d be remiss not to mention that this one-stop shop also sells luxury sheets in a variety of materials, including a wrinkle-resistant cotton set that delivers on its promise, as well as cozy flannel sheets that are available in solid colors, festive patterns and trans-seasonal prints.

Where to Buy Bedding Online - A dark powder blue and white satin-style sheet set and duvet cover from Ettitude a bed in a bright room with tan walls.
Ettitude

8. Ettitude

This eco-friendly company specializes in CleanBamboo bedding, the manufacturing of which uses 500 times less water and creates 52 percent less carbon emissions, as compared to cotton. In terms of how it feels to get in bed with the stuff (so to speak), bamboo bedding is nothing to shake a stick at—namely because the brand’s line of sateen and twill sheets are both silky smooth, ultra-breathable and hypoallergenic to boot. Don’t take our word for it, though—there are thousands of five star reviews attesting to the supreme comfort of Ettitude’s signature material.

Where to Buy Bedding Online - A dark powder blue sheet set with a white, blue, and sage green scallop design from Crane & Canopy make up a bed next to a very bright window.
Crane & Canopy

9. Crane & Canopy

Neutral and somewhat snoozy colors are all the rage these days in the world of luxury bedding, which is why the splashy, high-end linens on offer at Crane & Canopy will feel (and look) like a breath of fresh air for those who prefer something with a little more pizzazz. The company’s full line of bedding includes quilts, coverlets and duvets, as well as Belgian linen, percale and sateen sheet sets—all of which are available in an exciting range of classy-but-colorful prints and solids. We should also mention that Crane & Canopy sells sheet sets without the top sheet, which is very welcome news for those who can’t stand getting tangled up in (or tied down by) an extra layer of fabric.

Where to Buy Bedding Online - A textured dark sage green sheet set and duvet cover from L.L. Bean make up a bed. There are also some pillows in white cases.
L.L. Bean

10. L.L. Bean

If you’re outfitting your cabin in the woods for winter (or just a big fan of plaid), you should look no further than L.L. Bean—the lifestyle brand that’s best known for having cornered the rugged-meets-cozy market. The company’s online bedding shop boasts printed duvet covers, washable wool throw blankets, snuggly flannel sheet sets and more—all available in an array of timeless, rustic styles.

Where to Buy Bedding Online - A set of white and brown plaid sheets and duvet cover from Bed Bath & Beyond make up a bed in a modern room with wooden walls.
Bed Bath & Beyond

11. Bed, Bath & Beyond

At the risk of stating the obvious, this big box store is the place to go for budget-friendly bedding. (The coupons!) Plus, whether you’re visiting one of their many nationwide brick-and-mortar locations or shopping online, you’ll be spoiled for choice. Indeed, Bed, Bath & Beyond boasts a massive inventory of brand-name bedding—sheets, duvet covers, comforters, pillows, you name it—in a wide range of styles at every price point. Although the quality of the products can’t compete with some of the niche luxury retailers on our list, those who value convenience and a diverse selection will find that Bed, Bath & Beyond is hard to beat.

Where to Buy Bedding Online - A set of neutral colored bedding from Boll & Branch make up a bed in a dimly lit room.
Boll & Branch

12. Boll & Branch

Here, another direct-to-consumer brand that scores high marks for sustainability. The Boll & Branch line can meet every bedding need with its selection of sheets, duvets, pillows and more—all exclusively crafted from organic cotton and raw materials. If you’re shopping for sheets, you can choose from sateen, flannel, chambray and percale options. And if you simply can’t decide, you might benefit from a free design consultation; or, at the very least, a few fabric swatches, which the company will send upon request.

Where to Buy Bedding Online - A white, red, blue, and pink floral sheet set and duvet cover from Anthropologie make up a rattan bed.
Anthropologie

13. Anthropologie

Anthropologie specializes in trendy-but-timeless bedding with boatloads of personality. This clothing and home goods brand leans into all things vintage, feminine and ornate. The collection of sheet sets does include a few muted, solid color options, but mostly stands out for its much larger selection of lively printed fabrics. Similarly, the array of duvet covers, quilts and decorative pillows on offer run the gamut from romantic, Victorian-era styles to vibrant, ethnic-inspired designs. In other words, Anthropologie makes shopping for bedding pretty damn fun.

Where to Buy Bedding Online - A tan sheet and duvet set from Pottery Barn makes up a bed. The set has an illustrated pattern on it.
Pottery Barn

14. Pottery Barn

If L.L. Bean had a cousin who moved to the city, got all sophisticated, but never lost her rustic roots, it would be Pottery Barn—a powerhouse of upscale interior design that’s been churning out cozy, current styles since time immemorial. (OK, since 1949, but close enough.) From duvet covers and sheets to decorative accents—this retailer is the place to go for on-trend bedding that delivers down-home comfort.

Where to Buy Bedding Online - A white and grey sheet and duvet from Target is made up on a bed. It has a geometric pattern on it.
Target

15. Target

So your bedding is looking a little worse for the wear, but you don’t have a ton of cash to devote to new linens. Fear not: The bullseye has got you covered. Target has an extensive range of budget-friendly bedding for kids, teens and adults. Shop for bedspreads and sheets in simple solids and grown-up, understated patterns and then outfit the kid’s room with a vibrant, printed set or two. All you really need to know is that the options are numerous, and the price is right.

Where to Buy Bedding Online - A fluffy navy color sheet and duvet set from Buffy is made up on a bed.
Buffy

16. Buffy

Calling all hot sleepers: Buffy is an eco-conscious brand that makes bedding specifically designed for people who run hot between the sheets. Both the sustainable linen and eucalyptus collections are moisture-wicking, breathable and, above all, cool, but their claim to fame is the Buffy Cloud Comforter—an award-winning down alternative duvet insert that’s earned a cult following among consumers and editors alike for being soft, fluffy, wonderfully lightweight and (wait for it) competitively priced, to boot.

Where to Buy Bedding Online - An olive-y beige color sheet and duvet set from The Citizenry is made up on a bed.
The Citizenry

17. The Citizenry

The Citizenry’s sole brick-and-mortar location is in SoHo, but you don’t have to live in NYC to treat yourself to the swoon-worthy, artisan-crafted goods sold in the store. Head to the online shop where you’ll find a range of top-tier, minimalist bedding options, including their beloved (and rather pricey) stonewashed linen collection, which is sold in bundles and a la carte—you know, so you can spring for a single pillowcase before you fall in love and go whole hog.

Where to Buy Bedding Online - A soft and fuzzy sheet and duvet set from Sunday Citizen is made up on a bed.

Where to Buy Bedding Online - A white sheet set from Cozy Earth is made up on a bed. There's a peach pillow on the bed. The bed is up against a white brick wall.
Cozy Earth

20. Cozy Earth

In case you missed it, bamboo is an eco-friendly fabric that boasts natural cooling and moisture-wicking properties, and a remarkably silky feel. It’s also Cozy Earth’s calling card: Although the brand has a limited line of linen textiles, most everything else in the bedding collection is made from deliciously cozy bamboo and you’d be hard-pressed to find better quality product.

What to look for when buying bedding

1. Materials

When shopping for bedding it’s helpful to know a thing or two about the most common materials you’ll encounter. Here’s the rundown.

  • Sateen: Sateen—a finish type for cotton bedding—refers to a weave pattern that produces an exceptionally silky feel and subtle sheen. (Fun fact: Thread count has little to do with how soft any type of cotton bedding feels, and higher thread count can, in fact, contribute to stiffer, heavier sheets; it’s the weave pattern that makes a difference.)
  • Percale: Again, percale is a type of weave pattern used in the production of cotton bedding. Percale is more tightly woven than sateen, and the result is bedding that’s crisper to the touch.
  • Linen: Linen is made of natural fibers from the flax plant. Flax fibers are tougher to work with, so the finished product tends to be pricier; they’re also rougher, so linen bedding isn’t typically as soft as cotton. That said, linen has an edge on cotton in terms of breathability and moisture-wicking properties. It’s also prized for its relaxed look.
  • Flannel: Flannel refers to any fabric—typically cotton, but sometimes wool or synthetic fibers—that features a soft, fuzzy nap and a warm and cozy feel.
  • Bamboo: Made from the bamboo plant, this type of bedding retains less heat and scores high marks for breathability and moisture-wicking properties. It’s also prized for its sustainability since the manufacturing of these textiles uses less water and creates less emissions than cotton.

2. Price

Needless to say, price is a major consideration when choosing an online bedding retailer. Our list features lower cost retailers—like Target and Bed, Bath & Beyond—where you can find excellent deals and frequent sales and ultra high-end brands that sell pieces meant to last for many years (if you can get past the sticker shock), plus everything in between. (Many direct-to-consumer retailers have found the sweet spot where luxury meets affordability.)

3. Product Range

In general, big box stores are going to have tons of options, while smaller retailers will have a more curated selection that’s well-suited to folks who already know what style they want. It’s also worth keeping in mind that some retailers sell bedding pieces solo, while others require you purchase a complete set, so your individual needs might guide you one way or another.
