When Joanna Gaines talks about home decor, we listen. And lucky for us, the Magnolia maven is sharing some of her favorite kitchen paint color combinations from her Magnolia Home line brought to you by KILZ. She told the brand, "The kitchen is the heartbeat of home, which makes it one of my favorite spaces to design. It’s been so inspiring to watch families gravitate towards their kitchens again and again this year, maybe more than ever before." But don't just take Gaines's word for it—Magnolia's senior designer, Kristen Bufton, broke down what makes these color combinations work—and how you can incorporate them into your own home.
Joanna Gaines Reveals Her 4 Favorite Color Combinations for Any Kitchen
1. White + Cream
"White on white paint is super versatile because it acts as a backdrop for any décor style, including modern, industrial, traditional, etc.," Bufton explains. "Cream on cream leans more toward a traditional style to me, although you can introduce modern elements like tile to capture whichever style you are hoping to achieve."
2. Bold Blue + White
"We always keep the walls neutral when using a prominent darker cabinet color," Bufton says. "More dramatic color combinations like this tend to lean more eclectic and modern in style and are a great way to embody a moody vibe in your kitchen."
3. Gray + White
"This paint color combination is mostly used in traditional kitchen styles," the designer says. "You can interchange these colors easily since they are both neutrals, although I would recommend avoiding a monochromatic scheme of all gray. I encourage you to play with fun hardware, lighting, and rugs to add pops of color and texture throughout the space."
4. Light Blue/green + White
"This combo can lean modern or traditional so it’s a great way to add color to your kitchen in a way that’s more subtle and classic," Bufton says. "We love Emmie’s Room because it’s the perfect calming combination of green and blue and reminds me of the ocean."
