6 Crate and Barrel Shopping Perks You Didn’t Know About

Oops. We always think we’ll just stop into Crate and Barrel for a quick look around, but an hour later we’re walking out with a new set of espresso cups. And a phone full of photos of every side table, garden planter and duvet cover we need to go home and “think about.” Here’s how to save time and money on your next trip.

There’s a New “View in Your Room” Feature
Now you can see exactly how that pendant light will look over your kitchen island. Download the Crate and Barrel app on your iPhone and, from the product page, click the “view in my room” icon. Your phone will access its camera and insert the product in whatever room you’re standing in at home. You can even move and resize the item to see it exactly where you'd place it. All of this happens in real time, and you can save the images to your phone to revisit later or share.

Create Your Own Mood Boards
Mood boards are a coveted tool among interior design pros, and now you can create your own digital version. As you’re shopping the Crate website, save items to your favorites list. Then click “Create a Mood Board” to see all the items you love together on a plain white page. You can move things around, swap items in and out, adjust the size of items—basically play around until you find the combo that best expresses your style. Think of it as a built-in Pinterest board…but so much more convenient.

Get Free Stuff When You Set Up Your Wedding Registry
Couples are gifted a set of stemless wine glasses in a linen bag embroidered with “Congrats” just for setting up a wedding registry with Crate and Barrel. The store also hosts regular private registry events, where brides-and-grooms-to-be will have the whole store to themselves. (Did we mention there are snacks?)

Get Major Discounts at the Outlets
Crate and Barrel outlet stores have serious deals on a full range of clearance markdowns and outlet-exclusive merchandise. If you’re on a budget, look out for not-quite-perfect furniture pieces—sofas, tables and chairs—that sell for up to 70 percent off full retail price. The inventory is ever-changing, so stop in often. And if there’s not an actual outlet location near you, there’s an online version, too.

Keep It in the Family
Crate and Barrel gift cards can also be used at its sister brands, CB2 and Land of Nod, both in-store and online. And Crate and Barrel’s credit card gets you perks at all three stores: You’ll get $20 in rewards for every $200 you spend.

Save Money on Wrapping Paper
Crate and Barrel’s sleek black-and-white boxes let you off the hook from wrapping gifts for housewarmings, birthdays and showers. Plus, the boxes have built-in handles that make them easy to tote around.
