Benjamin Moore just announced their Color of the Year 2024 and it’s a massive departure from last year’s Raspberry Blush, a vivacious coral pink—but in the best way possible. Readers, say hello to Blue Nova 825: A saturated, vibrant blend of blue and violet that’s meant to capture the spotlight.
Benjamin Moore’s Color of the Year 2024 Is an Endless Classic (and We Couldn’t Love It More)
It's a Cool Transition from 2023
Here’s Why Blue Nova 825 Was Chosen
“It’s mystical, it’s a bit other-worldly and it draws us in, yet we still feel comfortable in a space that’s painted in that color,” says Andrea Magno, Benjamin Moore’s color marketing and development director. “I think those are all the qualities that really came together to help drive us to Blue Nova as the Color of the Year for 2024.”
Landing on the color was a journey (literally) as it was inspired by the team’s “color memories” of their travels and the joy of bringing new experiences home. Color and design expert Arianna Cesa says, “Blue is always a popular color family, but what we really wanted to make sure was that we picked a color that had a little bit of intrigue and allure to it.” While Blue Nova is certainly a statement color, it’s still dialed back because it’s a mid-tone. It strikes the perfect balance of being reassuring and confident but also livable and calming.
Here’s How to Incorporate It in Your Home
If you’re excited about experimenting with Blue Nova but don’t know where to start, think of it as a fresh alternative to navy. Go all out and paint the entire room or use it to highlight molding, windows or doors. It makes for the perfect kitchen island or bathroom vanity color as it pairs well with chrome, matte black or even brushed gold hardware. Blue Nova is complemented by oranges, yellows and even light blues, which brings us to the Color Trends 2024 palette.
Here’s Benjamin Moore’s Color Trends 2024 Palette
The team took a slightly softer approach with this year’s Color Trends 2024. The palette has a lot of mid-tones in it that Benjamin Moore’s color experts dub “happy-medium colors” since they’re not too light and not too dark aka the ideal mix of bold and soft color. The brand says, “Softly saturated with a nuanced approach to contrast, these ten colors take inspiration from hues found via adventures near or far.” In addition to Blue Nova, the Color Trends 2024 palette includes:
- White Dove OC-17: A clean and classic white.
- Pristine OC-75: A delicate off-white with dusty rose undertones.
- Topaz 070: A deep, radiant orange with rich undertones of brown and red.
- Teacup Rose 2170-50: A pastel hue with a vibrant mixture of pink and coral.
- Honeybee CSP-950: A versatile soft yellow hue.
- Regent Green 2136-20: A deep pine green that verges on black.
- Antique Pewter 1560: A green hue that’s grounded by a touch a gray.
- Polar Sky 1674: A pale, crisp blue similar to a winter morning sky.
- Hazy Lilac 2116-40: A mid-tone violet hue with a moody allure and a hint of gray.
With these colors, embrace dark hues with a moody edge or create decadent rooms with spirited pastel walls. No matter which way you choose, one thing’s for sure: Your home will be captivating.
