Oh My Gouda! Whole Foods Market’s ‘12 Days of Cheese’ Sale Is Almost Here
Ho-ho-Harbison
Between holiday parties, family gatherings and cold weather, there's no such thing as too much cheese during the winter (or any time of the year, TBH). Whole Foods Market agrees, and thankfully brought back its annual 12 Days of Cheese special for 2024.
From December 13 through 24, Whole Foods shoppers nationwide will be able to save on 12 predetermined artisanal cheeses (two of which are Whole Foods exclusives). If you're an Amazon Prime member, you'll score a discount of 35 percent. If you don't have Prime, you'll still save 28 percent. You can pick and choose your faves, or go all out with the 12 Days of Cheese sampler platter for $40, which includes four cheeses, sour cherry and fig spreads and Taza chocolates, if you're shopping in store.
So, what cheeses will Whole Foods be offering? Here's the full breakdown.
2024’s 12 Days of Cheese Lineup
- Jasper Hill Presto Prosecco-Washed Harbison: Wrapped in spruce and washed in Italian sparkling wine from Whole Foods Market, this cheese has a shockingly custardy center inside. Brace your senses for a piney nose and mushroomy, buttery flavor.
- Uplands Pleasant Ridge Reserve: This award-winning pick hails from a grass-fed cheesemaker in Wisconsin. It's distinctly sweet with notes of pineapple, toasted nuts and grass, along with an allium-forward finish.
- Sartori Herbs de Provence BellaVitano: Crafted in Wisconsin exclusively for WF, this Parm-like pick is encrusted in herbs de Provence, which gives it all the herbaceous and floral notes you'd imagine. Buttery, caramelly and citrusy, it's an easy win.
- Cypress Grove Midnight Moon: This dense, crystalline cheese hails from Holland. It's a stellar beginner's goat cheese with notes of toasted nuts, salted caramel and toffee with a citrusy finish.
- Cowgirl Creamery Mt. Tam: Ready your taste buds for this single-source, forage-based, triple-cream cheese that has notes of salted butter, fresh cream and white mushrooms.
- Vermont Creamery Cremont: Made from a blend of cow and goat milk, this pick is fudgy in texture with notes of citrus, hay and pepper. Its silky, wrinkly rind makes it one of a kind.
- Neal's Yard Dairy Sparkenhoe Red Leicester: This comes from the only cheesemaker still producing traditional, raw-milk, clothbound wheels of this farmhouse-style British cheese. The selection's vibrant color and earthy, savory taste will make it the highlight of your holiday charcuterie board.
- Hervé MonS Pyrénées Brébis: Crafted in the Basque region of France, this mild, sweet cheese made from sheep's milk is bursting with hints of fresh rosemary, thyme and hazelnuts.
- Emmi Kaltbach Cave-Aged Le Gruyère: This is a tangy, nutty, raw cow's milk cheese that's aged in the sandstone caves of Kaltbach, Switzerland. It's very rich and robust in both flavor and mouthfeel.
- Papillon Roquefort Révélation: Roquefort is as famous as cheeses come. It's required by law to be made from raw Lacaune sheep's milk. This one is robust with notes of licorice, herbs and pepper.
- Ca de Ambros Taleggio: An Italian cheese you'll definitely want on your side, this one is creamy, mellow and yeasty. It's great for snacking *and* cooking, thanks to its melting abilities and buttery flavor.
- Mitica Alisios: Take a bite of the Canary Islands in the form of this paprika-rubbed, smooth cheese. It's mildly tangy and super photogenic.
